If you’ve completed the HSP Survey and are interested in learning more about the traits of Highly Sensitive People here are some of the best resources I have found so far.
But first….what does Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) mean?
Over 100 species have been identified as having a minority that have the trait of high sensitivity ( including fruit flies, Monkeys, deer, fish, and dogs). In brief traits of HSPs include;
A preference to process information more thoroughly ( deep thinkers)
More responsive to environment – are easily overstimulated and overwhelmed needing more down/alone time.
Have Greater Emotional reactivity (both positive and negative) and Empathy
Are More aware of subtle stimuli. Able to read and feel others emotions.
Studies show HSPs have greater brain activation in the Amygdela ( Fight, flight, freeze) and the Insula which is where moment to moment knowledge of inner states and emotions, positions and outer events are integrated. In short HSPs are more attuned to both their inner and outer world.
